The WesAudio NG78 is a fully analog stereo FET compressor designed for engineers and producers who crave classic analog tone with the convenience of modern digital workflow. It delivers the punch and coloration of vintage 1176-style compression, while introducing flexible features like digital recall, plug-in integration, and stereo precision enhancements. Housed in a rugged 2U rackmount chassis, the NG78 is ideal for both tracking and mix bus duties, blending analog warmth with hybrid production flexibility.
At its core, the NG78 offers classic FET dynamics with five ratio settings, ranging from a gentle 2:1 to an aggressive 20:1, all enhanced by an “All-Button” mode for that iconic 1176 squashed character. Its extended attack and release times give users more control over transients, while the dedicated MIX knob allows for smooth parallel compression. With Carnhill transformer output stages and selectable THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) modes, the unit imparts analog color when desired, and its Saturation Mode can bypass compression altogether to function as a pure analog saturator or clipper.
